![]() I don't know what it was or what it IS about diaper bags that have always made me feel like such a mom! And when I say "such a mom", I don't mean it in a negative way, in contrary, I mean it in the most positive way ever! I've made posts on diaper bag essentials in the past and to this day whenever I see diaper bag posts on Instagram or Pinterest, it makes my heart flutter. I know, weird! I guess it's the fact that not only do they look cute, but they hold all the cute possessions and essentials that your baby needs as well, and the fact that it's you the one carrying them, it makes you feel extra special. At least it does to me. I know there are various moms (and dads) that absolutely loath diaper bags. Whether it's a backpack diaper bag or a traditional diaper bag, the fact that they have to carry not only their child, but a bag full of diapers, milk, clothes and toys seems like such a drag. And even though I absolutely love opening my bag and seeing my son's toys and looking at how cute and organize it looks, I am beginning to hate it. I guess it's the fact that Benjamin isn't a baby anymore and doesn't necessarily need all those things that you sort of actually needed when your child was a baby. The fact that Benjamin is about to turn 2 and I'm still carrying a diaper bag, makes ME realize that I'm kind of keeping this idea that Benjamin is a baby just to ignore the fact that he is a toddler now. Which being a toddler isn't bad at all! Now, I know that there isn't some parenting rule book that says you can't have a diaper bag past a certain age limit, and if there were that be completely silly. Your child could be 3 and you still love carrying a diaper bag. And guess what? That's okay! What matter is that you're comfortable with it. With that being said, the other day as I was struggling to carry both the diaper bag and Benjamin in the same arm, made me realize that it's time to say goodbye to the diaper bag. My most favorite diaper bag from Carter's. This diaper bag was my most absolute favorite. I adored the fact that it almost looked like a regular tote, it was the perfect size and the space in this bag was insane! Pocket after pocket, and I never truly filled every pocket and wish that I had gotten it sooner! I recommend this bag to new mommies up until you wish. It's sturdy and roomy; this bag was my trooper! Even though it was sad just thinking about putting away this bag, I was even more excited to switch some of the items in this bag, unto Benji's first toddler backpack! I originally got this little back pack at Target but can be found directly here at skiphop.com. I bought this cute little owl backpack when Benjamin was just 13 months old with the intentions of using it as his toddler backpack, but who knew that it would take 7 months later until we finally used it! I love that it's actually quite spacious for a toddler backpack and I thought it was so cute that it has a sippy cup pocket on the side! Even though the contents of his backpack are pretty similar to the ones in my diaper bag, there are no longer 2-3 bottles, or my stuff to add to it.
After finally packing everything in his backpack, both me and Benji were happy! It's cute that he knows that this is his and brings it to me whenever he wants to go out. He knows his snacks and toys are in here and I love that he can actually carry it, that's if he'd wanted too. Of course I still see myself carrying his little backpack for him, which I will gladly do it because it beats carrying a 5+ pound bag with me and breaking my arms for it! xoxo As much as I love all 3 of my actual diaper bags, I always liked the idea of carrying an actual purse as a diaper bag. But do you remember when I tried that idea on one of my blog posts about a year ago? Not a good idea! My back was always hurting and so was my shoulder, and on top of that everything was a mess! Well, that didn't stop me until I found this awesome bag on clearance one afternoon stroll at Target. It's not a Luis Vuitton tote but I liked it, the simplicity reminded me of a diaper bag but also a cute purse! Of course when I got home I remembered how horrible of an idea that was as I transferred all the contents of my diaper bag to the new bag; complete clumpy mess! When Ben took his nap, I remembered about the company called Life In Play Company, which I have written in my previous Favorites Friday. They design diaper bag inserts to put into your purse! I needed to get one, until I remembered the price $110.00, yikes! I'm pretty sure they're great but I can't afford that at the moment. Instead of giving up, I did my research and found a diaper bag insert that is such a bargain, Posh Margot diaper bag organizers. I read the reviews and they were great, and just for $18.99 even better! Without a doubt, I ordered it, and today, it finally arrived! I was skeptical at first glance because it looked rather small, but once I began stuffing the pockets, I was proved wrong! This little caddy holds so much, and the fact that I don't carry that much stuff for Ben anymore, I can only imagine how much more it can actually carry! I'm so excited to have this product because I can now buy these beautiful totes I've been eyeing and still carry my son's essentials in an organized way! Today we ran some errands so the contents in my bag were small:
•Sippy Cup (which I put into green baggy behind owl baggy) •Milk (in green baggy) •Diapers and diaper creams and powder •Whipes •Toys (inside Skip Hop owl baggy) •Wallet and phone *Remember to bring extra set of clothes* I recommend this product and the life in play product to any mama wanting to make a switch from diaper bag to purses and totes! As your baby grows, so does your diaper bag! Well, at least the contents in it change ever so slightly.
My diaper bag hasn't really changed that much since my last diaper bag update. But I figured now that Benjamin is 1, I might as well do it! So let's begin! 1.ipack diaper bag: I got this diaper bag from walmart.com for only $22! It's amazingly roomy and has so many pockets with labels. One of the side pockets has that "lunch" bag feel so it keeps the bottles warm or cold, on the other side I store my umbrella. I really recommend this bag due to all the room it has! 2.Oufit: Every kid definitely needs an extra pair of pants and shirt! So many accidents can happen especially with toddlers! 3.My planner and my knick knacks: I always carry my planner, I write down important info such as things he needs or appointments. And always remember yourself! I bring along hair ties and lipstick just so I can look nice! 4.Toys: Whether it's the car ride or the trip to the store, these toys are just what Benji needs! Especially since we're trying to get him off the Paci! 5. Storage bag, Sippy Cup, Snacks: Now that Benji is really into solids, I make sure to pack some crackers for him for his snack time. For meal time I pack him a grilled cheese or sometimes we buy him one wherever we can since their his favorite! He's also off formula due to tummy problem so we take him whole milk instead. 6. Diapers and Huggies clutch: If your child isn't potty trained, the diapers are the main thing of the bag! I am in love with this huggies clutch for the wipes also! I love how cute the pattern is it can clip on to your bag or wherever you wish to clip! What's in your diaper bag? So it has been about 2 months since my last blog post. And that means that little Benjamin's diaper bag has changed! Its amazing how a couple of months seems like nothing but our little ones go through so many milestones during those months. Milestones such as sitting, starting solids; you name it! Here is how my diaper bag has changed since the last time I shared my diaper bag details.
1. Carters Diaper Bag (Babies R us): Let me just say I am so glad that I changed from a purse to an actual diaper bag! During pregnancy I strived to look for a cute diaper bag that didn't look like one but you knew it was one. I had a Skip Hop diaper bag which i loved but after a while i realised it didn't go with my outfits as much, so I switched to a purse. BAD! BAD! BAD idea! my shoulder was always hurting and everything was cluttered and my bag got stained! Thats when I ran into this lovely bag at a trip to Babies R Us. I fell in LOVE! It is a rather large bag but thats why I love it! There are pockets just about everywhere! So much storage and very cute! It was exactly what I was looking for, A cute diaper bag that didn't look like one but you knew it was one. I really recommend this to every mommy seriously! And the neat part is that it comes in different styles and colors too! 2. Wipes, Diaper rash cream, and Diapers: This is why a diaper bag is called, A DIAPER BAG. 3.Snacks, Spoons, and Sippy cups: My son started enjoying solids at around 5 months. I began solids at month 4 but let me say I wasted a couple of jars now and then. It's all up to your baby! My sons favorite snack are these Gerber sweet potato puffs, and let me say they are pretty darn good! Hey, I gotta taste what I'm giving to my son! I bring along some spoons just in case we go to eat and he wants a little taste of what I'm eating, its also a great distraction for when I am eating and gets fussy because I wont share. Even though he's still getting a hang of it, I bring along a sippy cup. I feel like he gets thirsty with all his snacks, so its just a quick picker upper to let it wash down his food. 4. Pacifier wipes and Boogie wipes: I know it says "pacifier" but I use these little suckers for that and then some. Anything that is going to come in touch with my sons little mouth, wipe! Also these Boogie wipes are great. They're moist, soft and come in a variety of scents! 5. Toys and Teethers: Lets just say, I think these are a necessity! Little ones get bored and need some entertainment. If mommy is using her phone, these will do the trick for him to chew on and rattle. 6. Bibetts Ring Sling: I've been DYING for a sling. Let me tell you, carrying around a 20 pound 6 month old is no fun! At the end of the day I just wish for someone to stand on my back! I follow SakuraBloom slings on instagram, and they seem great! But they are a little bit pricey for me. I found Bibetts slings on Etsy one day and they are half the price! Total money saver and almost identical! 7.Clothes: With my son I need to bring along extra clothes. He still has some pretty nasty accidents whenever he's sitting or laying in his carrier. An extra onsie or outfit would be great to bring along just in case you find your little one, covered in puke, pee, or...poop. What is in your diaper bag? xoxo All items can be found at Target. So it has been 2 busy months since my last post! Benji hasn't gotten any less clingy which makes it hard for me to get things done, but I promised myself to start teaching him to be independent! With that being said he's about to be 4 months and the contents of my diaper bag have changed. Lets see some Benji essentials I keep in my bag:
•Green bottle storage baggy (from hospital): helps keep his bottles nice and tidy and warm if the temperatures get chilly! •Soothie(any store carries these): Sometimes he doesn't need it and knocks out on his own, but this little sucker (pun intended!) is really a big help when Benji needs nap time but fights his sleep. •Boogie Whipes Blasters(Target but any store carries these): With a very berry scent, these moist whipes help when Benji has a runny nose. The minty scented ones work awesome if your little one has a cold! •Changing pad (came with my first diaper bag): Dirty public restrooms=one of these! •Toys and teethers (baby book from Target, rattle from Tj Max, teether baby shower gift): The little one can get bored and cranky, so I bring along a small selection of goodies for him to chew on and get distracted. •Diapers, diaper rash cream and whipes (pampers, Desitin): Need I say more? •Extra onesie: Sometimes Benji has a little accident, and sometimes a BIG accident. Be prepared and carry an extra pair just in case! •Burp cloth (Target): Idk about other babies but Benjamin can be a messy eater! This little fella is a necessity! From his messy feedings to a spit up, this helps you keep the milk off your little one! And you. •Chevron print Bib (HugMeSew on Etsy): Recently Benji drools, A LOT. Instead of letting the baba (drool) get on him, I use this to catch that baby goop. •Lipsticks, hair ties and lip balm: Mama needs a little something for herself too! Don't neglect yourselves (; So what's inside your diaper bags? :) Snag a pic and hashtag or tag coffeenpoptarts on instagram or twitter so I can see! xoxo *Bag from Ross |
