Whether we like it or not, everyone has a routine in their every day lives, and sometimes we don't even notice it! Routines and schedules are great ways to keep our days organized and also a great way to keep us busy. Of course it's ok if you don't and you go with the flow instead! When Benjamin was just an itty bitty newborn, I only had one schedule in our lives, and that was his feeding schedules that usually were followed by nap time. As time progressed and he got bigger, I found myself looking over at the clock all the time. Is it seriously barely 3 pm?! I hated it! I found myself not knowing what kind of activities to do and it would get a little stressful. And then, I found the glorious ways of scheduling and keeping up with a routine. My planner worked great even if I wrote the same things every other day, it honestly helped me keep up with my life and now, I don't really need it as much! That's unless I'm writing down appointments or if I'm going to have a busy day. I can say that now my life is more "put together" and I don't even bother looking at the clock anymore! (Ok that's a big fat lie because I always look forward to Benji's nap time!) So here is how my days usually go: 10:00am-11:00am- I usually wake up around this time. (I know, terrible!) I use this time to do my make up and relax a bit before my day gets started. 12:00pm-1:00pm - I wake up Benjamin at 12:00pm every day. I know it's a tad bit late but we are working on his terrible sleep patterns. I bring him some milk and we watch some "morning" cartoons so he can wake up. At around 12:30 we have our breakfast. 1:00pm-2:00pm- After breakfast, we go back to the room and get ready for the day. I put some comfy clothes on for Benji, and let him watch some more cartoons so I can clean up the room. 2:00pm-3:00pm- If we decide to go out, this is the time we start heading out the door. But on most days, we go to his play room or outside to play and then we have our snack and our lunch. 4:00pm-6:00pm- I try my hardest to settle him down for a nap at around 4:30. Even though he refuses, I know he wants and NEEDS the nap because he starts acting like such a sour patch kid. Lately he's been taking 3 hour naps at most, so I use this time to wind down and relax! I also have my daily coffee break here. 6:00pm-7:00pm-He wakes up and I bring him some more milk. When he's not so grumpy, we go to the kitchen and make lunch/dinner and then we have bath time. 8:00pm-9:00pm- We get into our pajamas and we do our chores! I know most mama's do this while the baby is napping, but I like having my sons company when I clean. 9:00pm-10:00pm- We do some mommy and baby work outs! Then we relax by playing with some toys and reading a book. 11:00pm-12:00am- I start trying to settle him for bed time. We go to the room and put on The Goodnight Show on Sprout. When I notice that he's getting sleepy. I turn off the lights and TV and play him some lullabies until he falls asleep.
Remember that this is an approximation of how our day usually goes, and I quiet enjoy it too! No more stress, and we get to enjoy our day according to plan! Comments are closed.
