So today I decided to go ahead and do my yearly Holiday tradition; bake some Christmas cookies! I snagged this recipe from http://allrecipes.com/recipe/the-best-rolled-sugar-cookies/ and the cookies came out amazing! I suggest maybe adding another teaspoon of vanilla extract but still delicious! What's cool is that you can adjust the serving size on the website so you dont make too much cookie dough. I left it as is and have left over cookie dough in the fridge. Well lets get started! You will need:
•1 1/2 cups butter, softened •2 cups white sugar •4 eggs •1 teaspoon vanilla extract •5 cups all-purpose flour •2 teaspoons baking powder •1 teaspoon salt 1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). 2. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. 3.Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely. Next the icing! You will need: • 1 cup of powdered sugar • 4 teaspoons of milk Easy! Wisk up with a fork until smooth. Next separate into bowls to add desired coloring. I was in a hurry and iced my cookies with a knife but if you would like to make them nicer you can put the icing(s) into sandwich baggies and pipe them on your cookies. Royale icing dries fairly quickly so if youd like to add sprinkles do so ASAP! And there you go! Yummy Christmas cookies from scratch! Enjoy and Happy Holidays! xoxo Comments are closed.
